Tool(s): Wall Element Design + Modify Design
If you have a special program version and you are about to design a wall using Design Type,
Divisions and
Basic reinforcement,..., you can find the
"Freeze" division tool in the toolbox of the palette. Using this tool, you can suppress automatic wall division and recalculation of elements when the geometry changes later as well as define different wall types within a wall.
After you have selected this tool, a message is issued to point out that freezing the division switches off automatic wall division. Consequently, you can only change the division by placing connecting joints or mandatory joints or by splitting the elements manually. Deleting a connection or a mandatory joint, changing the geometry or other actions that normally result in a recalculation of the elements no longer have an effect on the "frozen" wall.
You can only make changes using the Properties palette at element level. Instead of the Precast element design, design mode and Precast element design, basic reinforcement,... entries, you can see the element-specific Wall type, design mode and Wall type, basic reinforcement,... entries in the list box at the top of the palette. So you can always select exactly the elements you want to change. The Precast element design, divisions entry is no longer presented for selection.
When selecting the element-specific Wall type, design mode entry, you can change the wall type, which is the only feature that differs from the walls that are not "frozen".
There is no way to "un-freeze" the wall other than by resetting the design identifier using the Design mode
Connections of "frozen" walls
If you change the wall types of individual elements within a "frozen" wall, the vertical connections in question are cut at the specified height so that individual connections are produced.
The connections and/or "frozen" former division joints between unchanged elements remain unchanged. Connections and former division joints of which the element type has changed are replaced with the last valid connection of the new element type(s). It is not possible to retain the old, previously valid connections, as connections for or between different wall types are usually not identical.
You can select the divided connections individually in isometric view or in associative views. You can also use the Precast Element Filter.
Precast element recesses and "frozen" walls
If you change the wall types of individual elements within a "frozen" wall, any precast element recess, whose edges are in different wall types, is cut and the most recent parameters specified for the relevant design mode are applied to the recess.
When you select the recess, the program presents all possible wall types that can be used with the recess in question.
