Opening, closing element groups

Using element groups

You can use Open element group and Close element group, which you can find on the shortcut menu of an element group, to edit the geometry and format properties of element groups without exploding them.

To modify an element group

1. Click the element group you want to edit with the right mouse button and, on the shortcut menu, select Open element group.
2. Edit the elements as you need.

   Note: You can edit or delete elements. To add elements to the element group, use Expand Element Group (How).

   

   Activate Expand Element Group in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Advanced Draft

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Advanced Draft

   Smart Symbols

3. Click the element group you are editing with the right mouse button again and, on the shortcut menu, select Close element group.
4. Enter a name for the group in the dialog line and press ENTER to confirm.

   Note: When you switch to a different drawing file using Open on a Project-Specific Basis or click Save, open element groups are closed automatically.
