Measure length

Measure

You can use the Measure Length tool to measure the distance between two points.

To measure the length

1. Click Measure Length.

   Or

   Click Measure (How) and then Length.

   

   Activate Measure in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Tools

   • Keyboard: Ctrl+Alt+M

   • Toolbar: Standard
2. Click the endpoints of a real or imaginary line.

   The following values are displayed:

   • L = length of line
   • Tot = sum total of all measured lines
   • A = angle relative to the x-axis
   • dX = length in X direction
   • dY = length in Y direction
   • dZ = length in Z direction

     The following values are only displayed when the System angle is not 0 or the Rotated Plan View is selected:

   • sX = length in rotated X direction
   • sY = length in rotated Y direction
3. Do the following:
   • Click Set precision to specify the decimal places for the values returned. The values are rounded off accordingly.
   • Click to place the measurement result as text (only possible if you have not selected the measurement tool while another tool is active).
   • Click one of the values to use it for a tool or for the calculator.
   • Click and then, in the dialog box, click a value to copy it to the Clipboard.
   • Click OK to measure another element.
   • Click Cancel to quit the measurement tool.
