Text direction and system angle

You can use the Consider system angle and Correct text direction automatically options in the Options - Text, Settings area, to influence the position of text.

When Consider system angle is selected, the changed System angle is added to the angle or direction of text.

When Correct text direction automatically is selected, the angle or direction of text is corrected so that it can be read from below and from the right. Allplan corrects the text when you create it or after you have rotated or copied it in a polar array. You can align text that is upside-down by rotating it by 0 degrees.

Note: Corrections are always based on an angle of 0 degrees, regardless of the Consider system angle setting.

Text and changed system angle

When you create text with the Correct text direction automatically option being selected, the text is always rotated based on a system angle of 0 degrees even if the system angle is set to a different value. When you select the Consider system angle option in addition, this option only applies to the text direction during entry. As soon as you click OK to place the text, the Correct text direction automatically option applies and the text is rotated automatically to the system angle of 0°.

In this case, the Correct text direction automatically option has priority over the Consider system angle option.

The Consider system angle option does not apply until you switch off the Correct text direction automatically option.

To rotate text later, you are advised to switch off the Correct text direction automatically option in advance.

Text and rotated plan view

When you create text in Rotated plan view, its direction depends on the setting for Consider system angle in the Text options:

Note: This setting does not apply to label styles, which means that they are not adjusted to the system angle.

Note: You are advised to use a system angle of 0° for normal architectural drawings. Other system angles often lead to extra work because the layout elements also have to be placed at this angle as floor plans are usually not oriented to north for printing. For the site plan, however, it makes sense to rotate the floor plans in the layout editor so that they are oriented to north.
