Modifying SmartPart properties in a dialog box

You can use the Modify SmartPart Properties using Dialog Box tool to enter the parameters of a SmartPart in a dialog box. You can also access this tool by double-clicking the relevant SmartPart or selecting Properties on the shortcut menu.

To change the parameters of a SmartPart using the dialog box

1. Click Modify SmartPart Properties using Dialog Box (How) and then the SmartPart whose properties you want to change.
   

   Activate Modify SmartPart Properties using Dialog Box in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Tools, Customize – Additional tools with icon category

   The SmartPart dialog box opens.

2. Change the parameters as required.
3. To see the results of your changes, click Apply.

   The SmartPart is created with the new parameter values and displayed.

4. Click OK to apply the changes and to finish editing the SmartPart.
   Clicking Cancel discards all the changes you have made, including those you have already applied by clicking Apply.

   If the current drawing file contains copies of the changed SmartPart, the program displays these copies in the selection color and asks whether you want to update these copies, too:
   Would you like to update identical SmartParts?

5. You have the following options:
   • Click Show identical ones to get a close-up view of all SmartParts that are identical.
   • Click Yes to apply the changes to all the copies.
   • Click No to leave the copies as they are; this creates a variant of the SmartPart.
