Importing NID files

Using content

Program: Allplan 2016

An NID Internet document contains a complete layout. You can choose to save all the resources (line types, hatching styles and so on) together with the NID file. This type of file is a convenient way of exchanging data (with a partner office, for example).

When the file is imported, a new project is created. This is to prevent any data in the current project from being overwritten.

To import an NID Internet document

  1. Download the file.
  2. Decompress the file and save it in any folder on your computer.
  3. Start Allplan 2016.
  4. Click Layout Editor (How) on the Default toolbar or File menu.
  5. Click Import NID File.
  6. Select the file you want to import. You can see the information supplied with the file - comments, bitmap, date and so on.

Note: Look at the date to see whether you saved the resources (line types, hatching styles and so on) together with the NID file.

  7. Import operations are always performed in a new NID project. This is to avoid the risk of data in the current project being overwritten.
  8. The new NID project name is based on the name of the original project. For example

    TownHall

    (name of original project)

    TownHall (NID 4.0)

    (NID project name)

Looking at the name, you can see

  9. Click OK to automatically create or update the NID project and to import the layout.

Tip: You can also import NID files by dragging them from Windows Explorer into the Allplan workspace.

Note: After having imported the file, Allplan will automatically switch to the new project.

Exporting NID Internet documents

You can use the Export NID File tool to compress an entire layout into an NID Internet document. This type of file is a convenient way of exchanging data (with a partner office, for example).
