VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) is a language used to describe virtual 3D worlds. The data is transferred as 3D surfaces and placed in Allplan using the original coordinates. Complex objects such as NURBS are converted to Allplan polyhedrons; you can specify the density and thus define the accuracy of the transfer.

The following properties are imported:

• The most important 2D and 3D node types (except NURBS nodes) are transferred.
• Material
  • The original name of the material is used to select an Allplan surface file. If a suitable file cannot be found, a predefined surface file, which is equivalent to the color and transparency properties, is used.
• If available, the material color is used in Allplan; otherwise, the element color is used.
• Text is only visible in 2D in Allplan.

To import WRL, VRML files

1. Download the file.
2. Decompress the file and save it in any folder on your computer.

   Tip: It makes sense to use the same folder for data of the same format.

3. Start Allplan 2016.
4. Click Import on the File menu and then Import VRML Data.
5. Select a file and click Open.

   Tip: You can also import *.wrl-format files to Allplan by dragging them from Windows Explorer.

6. Enter a value for the Density (10 - 200) and click OK.
   The higher the value, the higher the degree of accuracy.

   The original coordinates are used to place the 3D model in the current document.

Exporting WRL, VRML files

You can use Export to CINEMA 4D, VRML, DAE, KMZ, 3DS, U3D to export VRML files.
