Create Drawing Symbol

You can use the Create Drawing Symbol tool to add your own drawing symbols to the catalog.

• You cannot modify the Drawing symbol regulations catalog that comes with the program. This is the catalog in the ETC folder (default path).
  If you want to change the default drawing symbol regulations, you must copy the catalog to the office standard and assign it to the project.

To create new drawing symbols

• The elements you draw and add to the drawing symbols are displayed in the selection dialog box for Drawing Symbol Regulations and in the Drawing Symbol Legend dialog box. The settings you make in the Properties dialog box define the type of the symbol and how it is displayed and labeled in the document.

  Tip: To make sure that the dimensions and fonts are suitable for the selection dialog box and the legend, you can place a similar drawing symbol in the workspace and use it as an aid while creating the new drawing symbol. Create a legend. Make sure you switch off the Associative legend of active document option. Modify the properties and label of the symbol displayed in the legend. Add the modified display of the symbol to the drawing symbols.

• Create a 2D drawing including all the elements of the symbol (with fill or pattern, if necessary). Do not forget the label.
• Set the reference scale RS to 1000.

1. Click Create Drawing Symbol (How).
   

   Activate Create Drawing Symbol in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Terrain Urban Planning

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Urban Planning

   • Configuration: Landscaping/Urban Planning Urban Planning flyout
2. Select the elements which are to form the new symbol.
3. Define the symbol’s base point.
4. Select a group and click an empty field.
   (Attention! Fields that are already in use are overwritten!)
   

   If you do not want to save the new symbol in one of the existing groups, click Group definition and create a new group.

5. In the Properties dialog box, define the type, the display mode and the attributes.
   

   Name	This is where you can enter a text.
   Code	This is where you can specify which code is displayed together with the drawing symbol.
   Legal basis	This is where you can enter or modify regulations.
   Label	You can determine the label type (label style, file 9 drawing symbol regulations).
   Surface	This is where you can assign custom surfaces (for animated mode) to area elements.

   

   Surface Element	This type applies a fill or pattern to a closed area. (e.g. building areas).
   Linear element	This type is placed along a line.
   Symbol	This type is placed individually (e.g. campground)
   Slope	This type is placed along a line.

6. Click OK to confirm.
