Placing plants along a line

Tool(s): Planning and Planting

To place plants along a line

1. Click Planning and Planting (How).
   

   Activate Planning and Planting in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Terrain Landscaping

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Landscaping

   • Configuration: Landscaping/Urban Planning Landscaping flyout
2. Click Line.
3. If you want, you can now modify the parameters of the linear plant placement.
   Several options are provided on the context toolbar for this.
   

   • Click Properties to set the parameters in a dialog box.
   • Click Match Properties to copy the settings form an existing element.
   • Click Load favorite to select saved parameter combinations.
4. Draw one or more lines by entering the X or Y vector
   or
   by using the drawing aids in the dialog line and on the shortcut menu.
   

   When you draw lines and polylines, the following additional drawing aids are provided in the dialog line:
   

   Icon	Function	Use
   	No icon pressed in	The line can be drawn at any angle. This is the default setting.
   	Enter at right angles	The line can only be drawn at right angles to the current system angle.
   	Enter using cursor snap	The line can only be drawn at specific angles.
   15.00	Cursor snap	Define the cursor snap angle here (only possible when is switched on).

5. Press ESC to finish.
6. Click in the workspace to position the label; use the tools in the input options.
   

   In the input options click

   • Horiz
     to place the label so that it is horizontal.
   • Vertic
     to place the label so that it is vertical.
   • Angle
     to place the label at an angle.
   • Auto (not with Component Number)
     to place the label so that it automatically reflects the geometry of the selected component (important for window labels with label styles).
   • Resize (not with Component Number)
     to change the size of the label. Enter a factor in the dialog line.
   • Skip (not with Component Number)
     lets you skip the current element.
   • Go (not with Elevation Point)
     to automatically assign labels to all the selected elements. The start point for the text is positioned in the element’s centroid or, in the case of stairs, at the bottom.

Tip: You can use Combine Lines to Make Polylines (How) to join linear plant placements later. The new element automatically assumes all the properties of the element you clicked first.

Activate Combine Lines to Make Polylines in one of the following ways

• Menu bar: Change Draft

• Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

Draft

3D Modeling

Note: If plants placed as lines do not appear in printouts, check that the Printable linear and area elements option is selected ( Options, Terrain page, Landscaping area)
