Chimney

Module(s): Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

You can use the Chimney tool to draw chimneys.

To create a chimney

1. Click Chimney (How).
   

   Activate Chimney in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Architecture Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

   • Configuration: Architecture Architectural Components flyout
2. To set the chimney’s type and parameters, select the following settings in Properties:
   • Select the chimney type.
   • Enter the width and thickness of the chimney as well as the size of the flues and vent pipes.
   • Define all the other parameters and the height of the chimney.
3. Click OK to confirm your entries.
4. Define the placement point on the Chimney Context toolbar:
   

   In the icon, click to place the transport point.

   With openings (for instance doors and windows) only the following options are available:

   

   Tip: You can rotate rectangular chimneys before you place them by using a shortcut or clicking in the dialog line and entering a cursor snap angle at the keyboard.

   

   To rotate components using the option provided in the dialog line, do the following:

   • Use the TAB key to activate .
   • Before you place components, you can
     • Press the ‘+’ key to turn the element by the angle specified in a counter-clockwise direction.
     • Press the ‘-’ key (minus) to turn the element by the angle specified in a clockwise direction.

   You can also use shortcuts to rotate components based on a cursor snap angle.

   The following shortcuts are available for rotating elements:

   • Press CTRL+^ to turn the element by the angle specified in a counter-clockwise direction.
   • Press CTRL+< to turn the element by the angle specified in a clockwise direction.
   

   The following shortcuts are available for rotating elements:

   • Press CTRL+^ to turn the element by the angle specified in a counter-clockwise direction.
   • Press CTRL+< to turn the element by the angle specified in a clockwise direction.
