Modifying view and section properties
Module(s): Associative Views
You can use the
Modify View and Section Properties tool to modify how views or sections look.
To modify an associative view
- Click
Modify View and Section Properties (How). - Select the view or section you want to modify.
Note: You can also open the View and Section Properties Context toolbar by double-clicking the view border with the left mouse button or selecting this tool or Properties on the shortcut menu of the view border.
- Set the parameters:
- You can click
Match parameters to use the settings of an existing view or section. - You can click
Load favorite to enter and, if necessary, change the settings saved as a favorite file. - You can click
Save as a favorite to save the settings as a favorite file. - You can click
to attach a specific point of the preview to the crosshairs. - You can click X Fct and Y Fct to specify a zoom factor in the x direction and in the y direction.
- You can click Status to toggle between a hidden line image (Hidden) or a wireframe model (Wire).
Note: H + W means that the view or section contains both elements displayed as hidden line images and elements displayed as a wireframe model. - You can click the Def... button to define the parameters for a hidden line image.
- You can click the Accelerated button to switch between exact hidden line representations (No) and accelerated hidden line representations (Yes). This option affects the performance of your computer when you create hidden line representations and convert data to 3D.
For accelerated hidden line representations, only the settings in the Surface elements area are taken into account. All the other parameters you have set for hidden line images are ignored. The format properties for visible and hidden edges are not used either. The same applies to the settings you have made in the Section display and Surface elements for intersected 3D objects areas: they are not taken into account.
Consequently, the elements are displayed with adjacent edges and the format properties of the model data are used. Thick lines are not applied and hidden edges are represented by dashed lines. The setting of the Display hidden edges check box defines how hidden edges are displayed.
Note: Regardless of the selected setting, printing is always based on exact hidden line representations. - Click Convert to convert the view or section to 3D or 2D elements. Associativity is retained in either case.
When you convert views and sections to 3D, the representation is derived from the 3D model and cannot be modified directly. When you convert views and sections to 2D, on the other hand, Allplan creates discrete lines. You can modify the format properties of these lines using Format Properties on the elements' shortcut menu. Furthermore, you can delete segments of lines. Any changes you make to the model are retained unless they affect the modified line.
Note: When views and sections are converted to 3D wireframe models, instances of smart symbols are only displayed when the value defining the sequence in which they are displayed is set to 0. - Click Filter to specify the scope of the elements displayed. You can define whether all the elements (Off setting), the shell, the shell and the reinforcement or the shell and the fixtures are displayed in the view or section.
When you change this setting later, Allplan removes the elements that are filtered out. However, it does not add elements automatically. Existing reinforcement elements and fixtures are only displayed when you modify them or insert them using the
Add to View tool. In addition, modified fixtures are only displayed in sections and only if you have selected the Automatically transfer 3D components to sections setting in the options. - Click
Section Settings (when modifying sections) to set parameters for the section display . - Click
Toggle to change the text parameters for the labels.
- Click OK to accept the modified parameters and place the view or section where you need.
- Modify more views or sections or press ESC to quit the tool.
