Editing drawing files

Module(s): Layout

You can use the Edit Drawing Files tool to open drawing files straight from a layout. You can then use the tools in all modules to edit the drawing files. When you open the drawing files, Allplan creates the Layout fileset in the Fileset structure. This fileset includes all the drawing files selected.

You can select this tool only if the Show fileset structure option is active in the Settings of the Open on a project-specific basis: drawing files from fileset/building structure dialog box.

To edit drawing files straight from a layout

1. Click Edit Drawing Files (How).
   

   Activate Edit Drawing Files in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Change Layout

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Layout

2. Select the drawing file(s) you want to edit.
   To select a number of drawing files, use the brackets feature or press and hold down the left mouse button and open a selection rectangle around the drawing files you want to select for editing.
   

   With the aid of the brackets feature, several elements and/or regions can be activated and manipulated jointly. You can open or close the brackets feature by clicking with the right mouse button in the workspace or by selecting on the Filter Assistant toolbar.

   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

   Allplan automatically closes the layout editor and switches to the Layout fileset in document edit mode.

3. For further editing, click Open on a Project-Specific Basis (How) and select the Fileset structure tab.
   

   Activate Open on a Project-Specific Basis... in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: File

   • Keyboard: Ctrl+Alt+O

   • Toolbar: Standard

Note: This feature is particularly useful after you have imported an NID file or exchanged data with a partner office.
