Importing NID file

You can use the Import NID File tool to import an NID Internet Document. When the file is imported, a new project is created. This is to prevent any data in the current project from being overwritten.

In addition to NID files of versions earlier than Allplan 2016, you can also import NID files of subsequent versions that do not require data conversion.

To import an NID Internet Document

1. Click Import NID File (How).
   

   Activate Import NID File in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Layout

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Layout

2. Select the file you want to import. Any information supplied with the file is now displayed - comments, bitmap, date and so on.

   Note: Look at the date to see whether you saved the resources (line types, hatching styles and so on) together with the NID file.

   Import operations are always performed in a new NID project. This is to avoid the risk of data in the current project being overwritten.

3. The new NID project name is based on the name of the original project. For example

   TownHall	(name of original project)
   TownHall (NID 4.0)	(NID project name)

   Looking at the name, you can see

   • that Allplan created the project by importing NID data
   • the name of the original project
   • the layout number (in this example: 4)
   • the NID import version number (in this example: 0)

     If the NID file was already imported previously, you can choose whether the program is to create a new project or whether the existing NID project is to be updated - the second alternative is recommended if updates in the layout make the old version of the layout obsolete.

4. Click OK to automatically create or update the NID project and to import the layout.

Tip: You can also import NID files by dragging them from Windows Explorer in the Allplan workspace.

Note: After importing the file, the program will automatically switch to the new project.
