Creating print files
Requirements for creating print files using Windows drivers:
- You have set up a printer or large-format printer whose port is set to FILE, or you have selected the Print to file option using for the printer (
Print Layouts tool - Printer tab - Output mode area - Print to file option). - Windows provides a spooler for the printer to be used.
To create a print file with Windows drivers
- Switch to the Layout module.
- Set up the page as usual and place the layout border (unless you have defined it together with the page) and the documents.
- Click
Print Layouts (How). - Go to the Settings area on the Printer tab and select Windows driver.
- Click the name of the output device and specify settings for this device.
- If the driver has not been explicitly installed using the FILE option, select the Print to file option in the Output mode area.
- Specify a name for the print file, select the file type, specify the path where to save the print file (Allplan proposes the folder set in the
Options on the Desktop environment page, Save/load area, Folders for saving option; you can accept this folder). Then click Save to confirm. - Click
- Start to create the print file.
- Cancel to quit the tool.
- Close to save the settings without creating a print file.
Note: You can copy the print files to the external path and then to a storage medium using the File menu in the Services application. You can rename the print files in Windows Explorer.
