The Relationship between Reference Scale and Text Size

The size of text is always entered in mm and as an absolute value. ”Absolute” means that the text size in mm always stays the same, regardless of the reference scale. Changing the reference scale thus causes the relative size of the text to change on screen.

Text height 2.5 mm at a reference scale of 1:50

36cm = 7.2 mm at 1:50

Text height 2.5 mm at a reference scale of 1:100

36cm = 3.6 mm at 1:100

Note: When you place drawing files in a layout, you can use the Font Factor parameter to control the relative size of text in the layout.
