Modify format properties

You can use the Modify Format Properties tool to modify the properties of elements (e.g., pen, line, color, group number).

Tip: To modify the format properties of a single element, press and hold down the CTRL key and double-click the element.

To modify format properties of elements

1. Click Modify Format Properties (How).
   

   Activate Modify Format Properties in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Edit

   • Keyboard: SHIFT+CTRL+M

   • Toolbar: Basic Tools Edit flyout
2. Select the type of modification.
   

   Modify format properties

   Modifies the format properties of design entities. All modification options for format properties are available.

   Convert 2D entities to construction lines

   Converts 2D entities to construction lines. You can only modify the layer; the format properties of the construction lines are based on the setting in Options - Desktop environment - Display page - Drawing file and NDW window area.

   Convert construction lines to 2D entities

   Converts construction lines to 2D entities. The pen thickness, line type, line color and group/segment format properties are active by default. The next available number is preset.

   Change "From layer" for pen, line and color

   Removes or adds the ‘From layer’ format property (only possible for pen thickness, line type and/or line color):

   • When this check box is selected, the ‘From layer’ format property is added to the element.
   • When this check box is not selected, the ‘From layer’ format property is removed from the element.

   The ‘From layer’ format property only applies to the pen, line and color format properties; all the other modification options for format properties are not available.

3. Activate the check boxes beside the properties you want to modify, set the properties as required and click OK to confirm.

   Note: You can use to match the properties of an existing element.

4. Select the elements you want to modify.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.
