Transferring library elements to partner offices

If you want to transfer library elements you created yourself to partner offices, you can use Windows Explorer and the external path.

To copy the library elements to a folder of your choice, you can use the clipboard in the Library palette. Open this folder in Windows Explorer, copy its contents and transfer these data to your partner office. Depending on the data volume, it is a good idea to compress the data using an appropriate program.

To add the library elements to the library palette, your planning partners copy the data to any folder and then connect this folder with the external path in the Library palette. They can then distribute the folders and library elements as they need in the Library palette.

To copy library elements to any folder

1. Open the Library palette.
2. Do the following to create a folder for collecting the library elements you want to transfer:
   • Navigate to the folder in which you want to create a new subfolder.
   • Click New group at the bottom of the palette.
   • Create a new folder, for example, "Exchange".

     Note: You cannot create new folders in the Default folder.

3. Navigate to the folder or library element you want to copy.
4. Point to the folder or library element you want to copy and click Modify.
5. Click Copy.

   Allplan copies the folder or library element to the Windows clipboard.

6. Navigate to the folder in which you want to insert the folder or library element.
7. Click the folder with the right mouse button and choose Insert on the shortcut menu.

   Allplan inserts the folder and its contents or the library element.

8. Navigate back to the folder containing all the data you want to transfer.
9. Click Modify and select Open in Windows Explorer.

   The folder opens in Windows Explorer.

10. Compress the entire contents of the folder and transfer the data to your partner office.

To import library elements (at the partner office)

1. Copy the data you received to any folder.
2. Decompress the ZIP files using an appropriate program. Save the files to any folder.
3. Start Allplan 2016.
4. Open the Library palette.
5. Select the External path folder.
6. Click Add path at the bottom of the toolbar and select the folder with the decompressed files.

   Allplan automatically converts the data if this is necessary.

   Note: Data conversion may take some time.

7. Copy the folders or library elements you want to use from the External path folder to a different folder, such as the Office, Private or Project folder.

   Now you can work with the data.
