Retrieving a smart symbol from the library and placing it in the workspace

Tool(s): Smart Symbol Catalog + Smart symbols

You can place smart symbols defined and saved to the Library palette in the workspace.

To retrieve a smart symbol from the library palette and place it in the workspace

1. Open the Library palette in one of the following ways:
   • Click Smart Symbol Catalog (How).
     

     Activate Smart Symbol Catalog in one of the following ways

     • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools Smart Symbols

     • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

     Smart Symbols

   • Open the Library palette.
     If you want to see only smart symbols, click Filter and hide Symbols and SmartParts.
2. Open the folder with the smart symbol.

   Tip: You can use Find to find library elements in the current folder and all subordinate folders.

   Note: Look at the symbol to distinguish between Smart symbols and Smart symbols with resources.

   Note: Use View in the Preview or Selection area to define the view for the preview. The view is independent of the view set in the viewport.

3. Select the library element in one of the following ways:
   • Drag the library element into the workspace.
   • Double-click the library element.

     The library element is attached to the crosshairs.

4. Place the smart symbol in the workspace.

   The input options provide a number of tools you can use to place it.
