Editing XRef drawing files

Using XRefs

You can use this tool to switch directly to the drawing file you have placed as an XRef. When you select this tool, Allplan creates the Edit XRef fileset in the Fileset structure. This fileset includes both the current drawing file and the referenced drawing file.

The shortcut menu of the XRef includes this tool only if the Show fileset structure option is active in the Settings of the Open on a project-specific basis: drawing files from fileset/building structure dialog box.

To edit XRef drawing files

1. Click the XRef you want to edit with the right mouse button and choose Edit XRef drawing file on the shortcut menu.

   Allplan automatically switches to the Edit XRef fileset.

2. For further editing, click Open on a Project-Specific Basis (How) and select the Fileset structure tab.
   

   Activate Open on a Project-Specific Basis... in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: File

   • Keyboard: Ctrl+Alt+O

   • Toolbar: Standard
3. Modify the drawing file as you want.
4. Select the original drawing file again.

   Note: When the extents of the XRef have changed, you must update it by clicking Update XRef on the shortcut menu.
