Use design entities as bars

Tool(s): Read Properties

You can use any 2D design entities like lines, rectangle, circles, splines or even a 3D polyline for the transfer. All connected entities are formed to a single bar shape. While clicking the segment of a 2D element is sufficient for its selection, polylines consisting of 3D lines have to be selected using a selection rectangle.

Note: Please note that the design entities are transferred as the center line of the bar. This means that, in the case of bent bars, you cannot enter the outer dimensions of the required bending shape as the outer dimension increases by half the bar diameter at the bar’s fold points.
To create a U-shaped bar with segments 50 cm long, 24 cm wide and a diameter of 10 mm as a design entity to be transferred to a bar, then you need to draw a line as follows: Delta X length=49.5 cm, Delta Y length=23 cm and Delta X length=-49.5 cm.

To create reinforcement elements by using design entities

  1. Click a segment of the polyline consisting of 2D entities or enclose the entity in a selection rectangle if it is a polyline that consists of 3D lines.
To select a series of polylines, use the bracket feature or open a selection rectangle.
The first polyline found is displayed in selection color.
  2. Set the parameters presented by the system.

If you selected several polylines, the mark numbers are assigned consecutively in ascending order. The other parameters are the same for the other bars.

  3. Click OK to use the current setting.

The design entities are converted to a bar. A modifiable standard bending pin (4 ds or 7 ds) is created at every bend.

  4. If you have not touched on a view, you need to identify one now. This is the one into which the bars are transferred.
  5. Set the label parameters and place the definition bar label (you can define the text angle in advance), create the manual leader if required
    or
click Cancel if you wish to skip labeling entirely.
