Options, catalogs

For each component, you can specify

To define the quality and catalog for a component

  1. Select the component to which the settings are to apply.

    You can select the catalog for the following components:
    component, smart window sill symbol, stair, room, area, baseboard, smart symbol, line object, surface object and plot.

  2. Click Catalog assignment.
  3. The Attributes for Quality Selection dialog box opens. Select the attributes that are to be presented for selection in the column on the left.
  4. Click in the column on the right of the Attributes for Quality Selection dialog box. The Catalog assignment dialog box opens. Select the Catalog or Dropdown menu which is to be presented for selecting the quality.
  5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for other components.

    Note: You can change this setting at any time in the component's properties.

Notes on dropdown menus

With the Dropdown setting, you can define new materials and select existing ones (using , and ) when creating architectural elements.
When you click , Allplan saves the materials and presents them again the next time you select the dropdown menu. Allplan proposes appropriate entries while you are entering data.
Click to delete materials. Click to find entries or to enter a material you do not want to save to the list.

At bottom right in the dialog box, you can choose to save the settings for dropdown menus to the Project, Private or Office folder.

you can use four different material catalogs:

Katlg1 normal architectural elements (walls, columns, beams, slabs, ...)

Katlg2 surfaces (vertical surfaces, ceilings, floors)

Katlg3 baseboard

Katlg4 special elements (lintel, header, roller blind housing)

Note: With rooms (katlg5), the setting for Name ++ (at bottom right in the dialog box) also applies. If you select Name ++, the room number is automatically incremented by 1 with each new entry.

Tip: You can also assign your own catalog names.

Notes on catalogs

You can use predefined catalogs from TAI programs (for example, Allplan BCM for the catalog of the Allplan BCM program) or define catalogs yourself. Using these catalogs, you can define not only materials but also wall thickness, trades and so on.

Allplan has 5 empty catalogs (kukat1 to 5) that can be custom designed.

Catalog... smart symbol

You can choose between dropdown menus, user-defined catalogs or manufacturer-specific catalogs when assigning names for smart and tagged symbols.

Tip: To create your own catalogs, use the Define Catalog tool.
