Converting design entities to bars

Tool(s): Convert, Match Elements

You can convert any combinations of 2D design entities - such as lines, rectangles, circles, splines or even 3D polylines - to bars. Allplan automatically combines all connected entities into a single bar shape. While clicking the segment of a 2D element is sufficient for its selection, you must select polylines consisting of 3D lines by enclosing them in a selection rectangle.

Note: Please note that the design entities serve as the center line of the bar. This means that, in the case of bent bars, you cannot enter the outer dimensions of the required bending shape. The reason for this is that the outer dimension increases the bar diameter by half at each bend.
If you want to create a U-shaped bar with segments 50 cm long, 24 cm wide and a diameter of 10 mm as a design entity to be converted to a bar, then you need to draw a line as follows: Delta X length=49.5 cm, Delta Y length=23 cm and Delta X length=-49.5 cm.

To create reinforcing bar elements from design entities

  1. Click Convert, Match Elements (How).
  2. Click a segment of a polyline consisting of 2D entities or enclose the entity in a selection rectangle if it is a polyline that consists of 3D lines.
To select a series of polylines, use the bracket feature or a selection rectangle.
Allplan displays the first polyline it detects in the selection color.
  3. Set the parameters presented.

If you have selected several polylines, the mark numbers increment automatically in ascending order. The other parameters are the same for all bars.

  4. Click OK to apply the current setting.

Allplan converts the design entities to a bar and applies a standard bending pin (4 ds or 7 ds) to each bend. You can modify this bending pin.

  5. If you are working in Reinforce with 3D model mode and you have not yet created any views, you must select the view so as to assign the basic spatial orientation and create a view.
If views already exist but they do not include the design entities, you can select a view to which you want to add the new bar (the button Old is active in the input options).
You can also create a new view by clicking New in the input options and selecting a view.
  6. Select the Automatic mark number option in the input options if the program is to create the mark number at the beginning or end of the label depending on the drop-in point specified. In addition, define the Anchor point of the label.
  7. Specify the label parameters, place the label of the definition bar (you can define the text angle in advance) and create the leader manually.
    or
    Skip labeling by pressing ESC.
  8. To immediately place the bar you just created, select a placing mode.
