Bitmap files use a grid of small picture elements (hence the term ‘pixel‘) to display images. Together, the dots (pixels) form an image whose resolution varies according to the number and size of the pixels. In Allplan, bitmaps can either be read or placed into the background of a drawing file as so-called scanned images. Formats for bitmaps are for example bmp, .gif, .tga, .tif. In contrast to vector graphics, their quality diminishes when they are resized.
