Color, Saturation, Brightness

Several tools...

Selecting a color based on color, saturation and brightness values is easier than using RGB values because increasing the red content of an RGB color can lead to unwanted color shifts whereas the brightness and saturation of a color affect the shade of the color but not its group.

Hue

The term hue refers to the color circle:
0 or 360 degrees is equivalent to the color red; the shift is from red via yellow, green and blue back to red again.

Brightness

The term brightness is based on the full color mixed with black:
Brightness 0 leads to black
Brightness 255 leads to the full color itself

Saturation

The term saturation is based on the full color mixed with white:
Saturation 0 leads to white
Saturation 255 leads to the full color
