Settings in CINEMA 4D for optimum data exchange

Tool(s): Send to Cinema 4D + Import CINEMA 4D Data

To achieve optimum results, you must specify some defaults in CINEMA 4D.

To prepare CINEMA 4D for importing Allplan data

1. On the Edit menu, click Defaults.
2. Set the Unit to Centimeter.
3. Enter the following Allplan paths in the Texture paths area:
   • 1. (Allplan data path) ..\Data\Allplan2016\Prj\current-project\design (for surfaces in the current project)
   • 2. (Allplan program path) ..\Users\Windows_user_name\AppData\Local\Allplan\2016\Tmp\ndoc (for surfaces in Allplan documents; must be open in Allplan)
   • 3. (Allplan program path) ..\Users\Windows_user_name\Documents\Allplan\2016\Usr\Local\Prj\design (for surfaces in the private project)

     Note: CINEMA 4D scans the specified paths for the name of the surface file in the given sequence.

     Note: To include the ..\STD\design folder, you should add it to the end. All the (modified) surfaces used in the project are saved to the design folder of the project. Consequently, CINEMA 4D finds the modified surface files first.

4. Confirm the dialog box.

   Now Allplan and CINEMA 4D use the same textures and surfaces.

To prepare CINEMA 4D for exporting data to Allplan

1. On the Edit menu, click Defaults.
   • Select the Save polygons for melange exchange option in the Document area.
2. Confirm the dialog box.
