Save/load, drawing files and layouts

Note: Allplan automatically saves drawing files and layouts. NDW-format files must be saved manually.

Select this option to configure Allplan to automatically save the drawing files and layouts after a specific period of time (the setting you make for Save every ... minutes).

Note: When you work with Workgroup Manager and you have selected this option, Allplan checks all reference drawing files for changes before saving them. If these files have changed, Allplan will issue a message, asking whether you want to update reference drawing files.

The Update reference drawing files? prompt appears in conjunction with the following configuration:

Network version with Workgroup Manager
A drawing file was changed on a workstation on the network. Then this drawing file was saved (save, auto-save, switching between drawing files or projects).
This drawing file is open in reference mode on your computer.
Auto-save is active on your computer. You can specify the period of time in the Options, Desktop environment page.

Now the following happens:

The loaded drawing files are regenerated in the following sequence: reference – edit – current. As a result, the current drawing file is on top of all the other drawing files and hides them.
The reference drawing file is updated.

Note: When you are working in a network environment, you can see which drawing files are current or open in edit mode - these drawing files are marked with red locks in the Open on a project-specific basis dialog box.

Workgroup Manager handles the organization of CAD workstations in local networks. The Workgroup Manager module enables users to access all projects on all computers from every workstation. It ensures data consistency even if several users are simultaneously working on the same project.
