Examples and explanations of the individual wall dimension line types

This section includes information on the Dimension Walls tool.

Overall dimensions, outside dimensions

The points to be dimensioned are determined along the direction element.

Room dimensions

The points to be dimensioned are determined along the line that is opposite the direction element.

Note: When you create a dimension block with room dimensions, it may be useful to select the exterior walls (1) only. Allplan determines the reference points at the connecting interior walls automatically. If you select the interior walls (2), too, the dimension line points of the interior walls will also be added to other dimension strings (outside dimensions, dimensions for openings). However, this effect may be unwanted.

Show height of openings

The axes of openings and the heights of the openings are dimensioned. The opening points to be dimensioned are determined along the direction element.

Note: With dimensions for openings, only doors and windows are taken into account. To include other types of opening like joints, niches etc., add them later using Add Dim. Line Point.
