Importing object manager data

You can use the Import Object Manager Data tool to re-import the data in XAC format you transferred to and edited in external programs (such as Microsoft Excel or your own applications) using Export Object Manager Data. Any changes made in an external program are updated automatically in Allplan.

You can select this tool only if the Show fileset structure option is active in the Settings of the Open on a project-specific basis: drawing files from fileset/building structure dialog box.
After import, you can switch to the fileset structure for further editing.

Note: When you export an *.xac file from Allplan to Microsoft Excel, change it there and then import it back into Allplan, you need to save it in *.xac format in Excel. Alternatively, save the file in *.txt format (tab-separated) then rename it *.xac.
Saving the Excel file in a binary format (*.xls or *.xlsx, for example) may cause the formatting of the table to change.

Important notes on editing XAC files

To import data from external programs

• The project whose data you want to re-import drawing must be open.

1. Select the document whose data you want to re-import.
2. Click Import Object Manager Data (How).
   

   Activate Import Object Manager Data in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools Object Manager

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Object Manager

3. Select the required report in the Import Object Manager Data dialog box and click Open.

   The data are imported automatically, and Allplan immediately updates all the elements that have changed.

   Note: If the appropriate document is not current, Allplan will issue a message and open the relevant document in edit mode.
