Index

By using assemblies various parts of the model such as structural members or sections of structural members or tendons etc. can be assigned to a specific task or load case.

To assign a certain section of a structural member to a task or a load case

  1. Select the desired task in the phase to which you want to assign a certain section of a structural member.
  2. Click Assemblies.
  3. Select the wished structural member in the 3D model in the bottom right area of the View window.
  4. Select the first station of the desired section.

    Note: If an existing station is detected, the cursor turns red. If a position between two existing stations is determined, the cursor changes blue. After confirming the position with the left mouse button in the latter case an additional dialog appears for adding a new station at this position.

  5. Select the second station of the desired section.

    The selected section of the structural member is added to the list in the bottom left window area.

  6. Directly perform further assignments or quit the tool with ESC.

To assign a (full) structural member to a task or a load case

  1. Select the desired task in the phase.
  2. Click Assemblies.
  3. Select the wished structural member in the 3D model.
  4. Skip the selection of the stations by pressing the enter key.

    The selected structural member is added to the list.

  5. Directly perform further assignments or quit the tool with ESC.

Note: Alternatively, you can directly assign structural members from the menu Geometry/Structure per drag and drop. (In this case you don’t need to select this tool).

To assign several structural members to a task or a load case (in one go)

  1. Select the desired task in the phase.
  2. Click Assemblies.
  3. Click the right mouse button to activate the multiple selection.
  4. Select the desired structural members one after the other in the 3D window.
  5. Confirm the selection with the right mouse button.

    The selected structural members ared added to the list.

  6. Directly perform further assignments or quit the tool with ESC.

Note: You can also use the functionalities of the rectangular selection boxes for selecting the structural parts. Hold down the shift key and draw a selection box from one position to the right side (blue selection box, selects all objects fully lying within this area) or to the left side (green selection box, additionally selects all cut objects).

Note: To facilitate the selection of various objects (structural members, tendons etc.) you can set specific filters for the different object types in the Property window.
