Trimming a parametric line (except an arc)

Each parametric line has a theoretical center point or reference point, which is defined depending on the type or definition of the line, and a positive and negative direction starting from this.

This function can be used to trim one half/side (in positive or negative direction) of the parametric line up to its center point. (Note: With the "Parallel line through two points of intersection" type, the line area between the two points of intersection is always retained).

After selecting the line when performing the trim function, its center point and the positive direction are displayed graphically with a dot or an arrow.

To trim a parametric line

  1. Click Trim.
  2. Click on the parametric line to be trimmed.

The line is marked and its center and the positive direction are shown with a dot or an arrow.

  3. Click anywhere on the line on the side that you want to trim.

The corresponding side of the line is now deleted.

  4. Trim further lines directly (back to 2.) or exit the function with ESC.

The settings for trimming can also be made or subsequently changed or canceled directly in the properties window after selecting a parametric line in the cross-section window by selecting the corresponding "Positive/negative" checkboxes here.

Note: Please note that trimming a line in both directions can lead to calculation errors, especially if other lines are dependent on the trimmed line.
