Parallel lines through a point (of intersection)

Creating a parametric line parallel to an existing parametric line through a point of intersection of two parametric lines or through a parametric point with optional distance to the (intersection) point

To create a parallel line through a point (of intersection)

  1. Click Parallel line through point (of intersection).
  2. Click on an existing line (or on one of the two coordinate axes) as the reference line for the new parallel line to be generated.
  3. Click on the point of intersection of two lines or on a parametric point through which the new line should run.
  4. Click on the same point again (without moving the mouse) to create the parallel line directly through this point (continue to 5.).

    As an alternative:

Move the mouse in the direction of the desired position of the line to be created and enter the desired (normal) distance relative to the selected line starting from the selected point in the input field that opens (= distance from the point of intersection normal to the line). Alternatively, you can set the position directly with the mouse cursor. In both cases, confirm the entry with the Enter key or the left mouse button.

  5. Create further parallel lines directly using (intersection) points (back to 2.) or end the function with ESC.
