List of all docking points defined in the body

Docking points can interactively be created using the respective tool in the context menu of the body (see here).

In case of prisms, docking points are by default created at the positions of the user-defined reference points in the assigned cross section at the begin, end and in the center of the prism, whereby the created points can be edited afterwards in the property window

Note: It is not possible to create new docking points directly via the list.

Use the button Synchronize to create all docking points based on the defined reference points in the cross section of the prism anew in the list.

List/Table

Name

Name of the defined docking point

In case prisms, the default name of the docking point is set up by the name of the reference point plus a postfix for the position within the prism (0...begin, 1...end, M...middle).

Definition

Type of the definition of the docking point (see below)

Reference

Name of the reference point from which the docking point was derived [only applicable for prisms]

Properties

Parameters of the definition of the docking point

Definition of the docking point (Property window)

The position of the docking point can respectively be determined by various definitions. In case of the functions XRELPNT and XLOCPNT, additionally, the direction can be defined (see Direction type).

XRELPNT [X RELATIVE POINT]

Define the position of the point by a relative value (X relative) in x-direction of the local coordinate system of the body (ratio value related to the length of the body between 0 (begin) and 1 (end)).

Note: For the optional definition of the direction, see Direction type.

XLOCPNT [X LOCAL POINT]

Define the position of the point as local x-coordinate X in x-direction of the local coordinate system of the body.

Note: For the optional definition of the direction, see Direction type.

XRELCYZ [X RELATIVE CROSS-SECTION YZ]

Define the position of the point by a relative value (X relative) in x-direction of the local coordinate system of the body (see XRELPNT) and by the coordinates Y and Z in the local coordinate system of the body.

LOCAL

Define the point in the local coordinate system of the body by the coordinates X/Y/Z.

GLOBAL

Define the point by global coordinates X/Y/Z.

Direction type

[Only applicable for the definitions XRELPNT and XLOCPNT]

Define the z-axis of the local coordinate system of the docking point along one of the two parametric lines, at whose intersection point the underlying reference point is defined in the cross section. The local x-axis of the docking point is hereby oriented orthogonally to the chosen param. Line within the cross section plane. The y-axis is then oriented orthogonally to the other two axes (orthogonally to the cross section plane).

The identification of the first (1) and second (2) parametric line is determined based on their sequence as shown within the definition of the reference point in the property window (i.e.: mark the reference point in the cross section, read the definition in the property window: first listed param. line = 1, second line = 2).

ZA1POS/ZA1NEG/ZA2POS/ZA2NEG [z.B. Z-AXIS 1 POSITIV]

Define the local z-direction of the docking point of the prism along the respective param. line (1 or 2) in pos. or neg. direction (POS or NEG)

The local x-direction of the docking point of the prism is hereby oriented orthogonally to the respective param. line (1 or 2) within the cross section plane, the y-direction then orthogonally to the two other axis directions (orthogonally to the cross section plane).

Note: Use this function for e.g. placing prisms orthogonally to other, inclined prism areas. The local x-axis of the docking point is then placed orthogonally to the prism area, the local z-axis in transverse direction and the local y-axis in longitudinal direction of the prism.
