Label associatively
Task area Annotations + Views and Sections
You can use this tool to label 3D elements of a view or section that updates automatically.
When you label a 3D element associatively and the properties of this element change afterward, the label changes accordingly (if the properties that have changed are part of the label).
Notes:
- The label created associatively is still associative when you modify the view or section that automatically updates itself and these modifications produce a view or section that is no longer associative.
- When you save a drawing file wizard, associative labels become normal texts.
- It is clear via the flyout to see if the label style (Configuration entry: Labeling) was created manually or automatically.
To label associatively
- Make the drawing file active by placing the associative label.
- The 3D elements of the associative view or section must be in the current drawing file or in a drawing file open in edit mode.
- Click
Label Associatively (How) or open the tool via the shortcut menu (right-click on the associative view/associative section). - the 3D elements you want to label in the associative view or section. To confirm your select, right-click in the workspace.
- Choose the type and contents of the label by selecting one of the following three options in the top part of the Associative Label palette:

A preview of the selected label is attached to the crosshairs.
- Place the label in the workspace.
