Convert DTM Elements to 2D

You can use this tool to convert DTM elements to 2D.

To convert DTM elements to 2D

1. Click Convert DTM Elements to 2D (How).
   

   Activate Convert DTM Elements to 2D in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Terrain Digital Terrain Model

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following modules:

   Digital terrain model

2. Select the target file for the 2D elements.
3. Click the DTM.
4. Select the DTM elements to be converted to 2D by clicking, opening a selection rectangle or the brackets.
   Or
   Right-click in the workspace twice or click All in the input options to select all DTM elements.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a selection rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select.
   • Some tools allow you to select all elements in the current document by clicking All in the input options or pressing CTRL+A.

   When selecting elements, you can use filters, which allow you to filter by element type or property. For more information, see Using filters.

   To select all the elements in the DTM for conversion, click it.

Notes:

• The association between contour lines and the DTM is lost during conversion. These are then treated as discrete elements and cannot be re-associated with the model.
• Elevation points are converted to normal 3D points; labels stay as text.
• Special lines are re-created as discrete 3D lines in the corresponding color. They can be combined to make polylines.
