Modify Exterior Wall

You can use this tool to change the settings, attributes and orientation of construction layers in exterior walls (with a closed geometric outline) in a single operation. The system will automatically detect the exterior wall in the model. This tool is particularly useful for converting single-tier walls to walls with multiple construction layers.

Note: The program automatically updates the openings (doors, windows but not corner windows) in the exterior wall you modified.
Note, however, that elements such as facing in multiple construction layers will be lost.
They can be reentered using entry-based modification without having to redraw the windows.

Note: If the exterior wall contains corner windows, the program deletes these windows after displaying a message.

To modify an exterior wall polyline

1. Click Modify Exterior Wall (How).
   

   Activate Modify Exterior Wall in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Architecture Special: Walls, Openings, Components

   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Special: Walls, Openings, Components

2. The following options are available for defining the parameters of the exterior wall in the Modify Exterior Wall dialog box:
   • Enter the number of construction layers in the Number of layers area.
   • In the Edge to retain area specify which of the two sides of the wall is not to be modified
   • In the Number of layers area, define the sequence in which you want to design the individual construction layers:
     With Inner -> Outer construction layer 1 is on the inside edge of the exterior wall, followed by layer 2, 3, and so on.
   • Define all the other parameters and the height of each active wall type.
     In the Settings area, you can switch between the individual construction layers in the wall.
3. Click OK to confirm.
4. Click one of the exterior walls to be modified.

   The outline of the exterior wall found appears in the selection color on the screen.

5. Right-click in the workspace to start.
