Installing a new printer

Task area Layout Editor

Windows applications, including Allplan, can use all network printers that have been shared.

To install a new printer on your computer

  1. In Windows 10, go to the search box (lower left-hand corner) and enter Control Panel then click the search result. Click (Show) Devices and Printers.
  2. Click Add a printer on the menu bar or in the Printer Tasks area.

A wizard opens, helping you install a new printer.

  3. To install the printer locally, click the Add a local printer option or confirm the Local printer option.
  4. Select the port to which the printer is connected.
Select the FILE option if you want to use the printer to create print files.
  5. Select the manufacturer and printer model.
  6. Accept the printer name proposed by the system or enter any name.

You can enter long printer names including spaces and special characters. However, some clients might not support long names.
If your network contains various clients, then only use printer names with a maximum of 31 characters without spaces and special characters.
