Modifying dimension lines

You can change both the parameters and the position of dimension lines later.

Modifying the parameters of dimension lines

Modifying a dimension line always involves two steps:

  1. Select Modify Dim. Line and define the required parameters.
  2. Select the dimension lines to which you want to apply the parameters.

Note: The settings for the extension lines are not used. To modify extension lines, use Modify Extension Line.

Modifying the parameters of a dimension line in the Properties palette

Modifying a dimension line in the Properties palette always involves two steps:

  1. Select one or more dimension lines.
You can see the dimension line parameters in the Properties palette.
  2. Change the required parameters.
You can immediately see the effects of your changes.
  3. To finish, select Esc or click in the workspace.

Note: You can also use this method to modify the parameters of an individual section or point of a dimension line (Section/point area).

Note: By clearing the Associative in relation to reference points option in the Element area, you remove the associativity from the dimension line. However, you cannot restore the associativity again or assign it later.

Modifying the parameters of dimension lines based on their initial settings

Modifying a dimension line in this manner always involves two steps:

  1. Right-click the dimension line you want to modify. On the shortcut menu, choose Properties.
The dialog box with the parameters of the dimension line clicked opens.
  2. Change the parameters as required and click OK to confirm.

Note: Thus, you can also modify the parameters of an individual section or point of a dimension line (Section/Point tab).

Modifying the position of dimension lines

To modify the position of a dimension line, use Move Dimension Line. This moves the dimension line orthogonally. The associativity is retained.

Note: Moving a dimension line by using the Move tool on the Edit toolbar causes the associativity to be lost unless you select both the dimension line and the dimensioned points.
