Copy

Task area Edit

You can use this tool to copy and then paste one or more copies of an entity in the drawing.

Note: The elements are inserted in the same drawing file in which the original elements are located. To copy elements between drawing files, you can use Copy, Move Elements between Documents or the Clipboard.

To copy elements

1. Click Copy (How).
   

   Activate Copy in one of the following ways:

   • Actionbar:Task area Edit

   • Menu bar: Edit

   • Keyboard: C P

   • Shortcut menu: Hovering over the empty workspace Right mouse button
2. Select the elements you want to copy.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a selection rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select.
   • Some tools allow you to select all elements in the current document by clicking All in the input options or pressing CTRL+A.

   When selecting elements, you can use filters, which allow you to filter by element type or property. For more information, see Using filters.

3. Enter from point.
4. To obtain multiple copies, enter the number of copies in the dialog line and press Enter to confirm.
5. Specify the target point for the copying operation.
   

   • Click the point.
   • Align to points using the linear snap function and click the point.
   • Define the point by making entries in the dialog line.
