Notes on IFC import of certain objects
Note the following when you
Import IFC Data:
- When importing IFC data, you can find the Import all components as user-defined archit. elements option in the Advanced options in the IFC Import Settings dialog box.
Use this option if your work requires only the geometries of the components. Attributes remain unchanged; the "intelligence" of the components is lost. This option is not selected by default. - ALLPLAN does not import components grouped as an IfcElementAssembly (such as IfcReinforcingBars) as user-defined architectural elements but as an element group of original elements. When the Import all components as user-defined archit. elements option is selected, Allplan transfers the grouped components as an element group of user-defined architectural elements.
- Allplan imports the following profile types: IfcIShapeProfile and IfcAsymmetricIShapeProfile.
- Allplan imports sweep solids or sweep surfaces of which the profiles are defined as IfcTrapeziumProfileDef.
- If imported freeform geometric objects with curves or general 3D elements (BREPs) are not completely visible, this is usually caused by the import of isocurves.
The IFC Import Settings - Advanced options provide the Use enhanced representation of freeform geometric objects option. Select this option and enter values for Number of U-curves and Number of V-curves (isocurves); 4 is usually sufficient.
