Replacing an individual instance of a plant object

Tool(s): Replace Plant Objects

To replace a single smart symbol or plant object with another smart symbol or plant object

1. Click Replace Plant Objects (How).
   

   Activate Replace Plant Objects in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Role Surroundings Task Landscaping Task area Plant Objects, Path Areas

   • Menu bar: Change Terrain Landscaping

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Landscaping

2. Deactivate the Add identical objects option in the Input Options.

   This replaces only the selected smart symbol or plant object.

   Note: You can use the Label option in the Input Options to specify whether labels are also replaced (option selected) or not (option not selected).

3. Select the plant object(s) you want to replace.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a selection rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select.
   • Some tools allow you to select all elements in the current document by clicking All in the input options or pressing CTRL+A.

   When selecting elements, you can use filters, which allow you to filter by element type or property. For more information, see Using filters.

4. Select the plant object which is to replace the existing instance in one of the following ways:
   • Click the plant object which is to replace the original plant object(s).
   • Click Library in the Input Options to open the plant catalog and to select a plant object.

     Note: The program replaces the instances that are in the current drawing file and in drawing files open in edit mode.

     Note: The setting for Resize smart symbol has an effect on the substitute object when you Replace Plant Objects. If the original plant object was defined and placed with this option being selected, the substitute object behaves in the same way even if it was defined with this option being not selected.
