Stair palette - Stringer tab

Tools: Stair Modeler + Modify Stair Modeler / Stair palette

You can only see this tab when the Create 3D representation option is selected in the Representation area on the Settings taband the check box for the relevant stair element is selected on the Elements tab.

Dimensions

Sketch of the stair element, including descriptions of the dimensions.

Stringer on the left / right

You can see only the parameters of the stair elements you have selected on the Elements tab Stringer on the left, Stringer on the right check boxes).

Height / Thickness

The values defining the Height (= dimension of cross-section perpendicular to base area) and Thickness (= dimension of cross-section perpendicular to its component axis) of the stair element are mutually dependent: To enter its Thickness, select the check box and enter a value for the thickness. The Height will be calculated automatically.

Width

Defines the horizontal dimension of the stair element perpendicular to its component axis.

Offset at top

Define the vertical distance between the front edge of the tread and the top edge of the stringer.

Connections

Click the connection point for which you want to define settings in the sketch of the stair. Depending on the connection type, the sketch of the stair element shows the parameters required for the connection point selected.

Type

For the connection of the stair base, you can choose between the Horizontal, Vertical and Support corbel connection types. For all other connection points, you can choose between the Default and Support corbel connection types:

Depending on the connection type selected, you can define the following dimensions:

Position

Defines the horizontal distance between the front edge of the first tread (= first point of stair axis) and the front edge of the adjacent component (for example, slab edge or landing edge).

Offset at bottom

Defines the vertical distance between the top level of the first or last tread and the bottom level of the stair connection.

When clicking a point for connecting a landing, you can select the check box to connect the bottom level of the stair connection to the bottom level of the landing.

Offset at back

Carriage only; applies to the base points of a flight of stairs.

Defines the horizontal distance between the front edge of the first tread and the rear edge of the stair carriage.

Thickness

Support corbel connection type only

Defines the thickness of the corbel.

Width

Support corbel connection type only

Defines the width of the corbel.

Horizontal joint

Support corbel connection type only

Defines the thickness of the horizontal joint between the corbel and the stair connection.

Butt joint

Support corbel connection type only

Defines the thickness of the butt joint between the corbel and the stair connection.

2D representation

Create

Select the check box to display the stair element in plan view.

3D representation

Layer

You can set the layer for the stair element.

Color

You can set the line color for the stair element. Select the check box to take the line color from the layer set. Otherwise, you can choose any line color.

Pen

You can set the pen thickness for the stair element. Select the check box to take the pen thickness from the layer set. Otherwise, you can choose any pen thickness.

Line

You can set the line type for the stair element. Select the check box to take the line type from the layer set. Otherwise, you can choose any line type.

Surface

You can assign a custom surface to the stair element; this surface is visible when you select the Animation view type or render the stair element. To assign a surface, you can use the Surfaces palette as you would using the Assign Custom Surfaces to 3D, Archit. Elements tool.

Section

You can define setting for displaying the stair element in sections.

Fill / Hatching / Pattern / Style Area

Select the check box of the surface element you want to use to display the stair element in sections. You can only select one surface element. Use the list box to the select the number of the surface element you want to use.

If you want to display the outline of the stair element only, clear all check boxes.
