Creating 3D text as a SmartPart

You can use the 3D Text SmartPart to quickly and easily create three-dimensional text in the TrueType fonts installed on your computer. You can find this 3D text SmartPart in the ‘Content’ area on Allplan Connect.

To get this 3D Text SmartPart, open the Connect palette, log in to Connect and drag this SmartPart into the workspace. This adds the SmartPart to the Library palette - Office folder. You can then use this SmartPart even if you are not connected to the Internet.

To create 3D text as a SmartPart

• You are a registered user of the service portal Allplan Connect.
• You are a Serviceplus customer.

1. Open the Connect palette and log in to Allplan Connect.
2. Open the Content tab.
3. Enter 3D text in the search box and click Find.

   The SmartPart 3D Text tile is displayed in the search results.

4. Click this tile.
5. Point to the lower tile (SMZ file type) until you can see a hand. Then drag the tile into the workspace.

   This adds the 3D Text SmartPart to the Office folder of the Library palette.

   The SmartPart is attached to the crosshairs and the Parameters dialog box opens.

6. Define the Font and the other parameters and enter the Text at the bottom.

   To create upright text that you might put on a facade, set 3D angle to 90 degrees.

7. Place the text in the workspace and click OK to confirm the Parameters dialog box.

   

Tip: You can edit three-dimensional text as you would edit other SmartParts. Using handles, you can change the size of the text. Double-click the text to open the Parameters dialog box again.
