Save regular Allplan projects as free project files

Using project files / Tools Project file (.apn)

Please note: If a regular Allplan project is available in Project and Resource Administration then the relevant free project file cannot be opened on the same workstation or in the same network.

How to save a regular Allplan project as a free project file

  1. Click Project and Resource Administration (How).

    The Allplan Exchange dialog box Project and Resource Administration dialog box opens.

  2. When in the Projects table, open the shortcut menu in the project and click Save as project file (.apn).
  3. Select the folder in which the project file should be created, enter a file name, and confirm it with Save.

    The project file is created.

Or if the relevant Allplan project is opened:

  1. Click Project file (.apn) (How) and then Save project file as.
  2. Select the folder in which the project file should be created, enter a file name, and confirm it with Open.

    The project file is created. The regular Allplan project remains open. All subsequent amendments are then made to the regular Allplan project.

    Note: If you would like to adopt the changes in the free project file then you must save the regular Allplan project as a free project file once again.

If you would like to save several Allplan projects as free project files then this can be done in a single step via multi-selection.

How to save several regular Allplan projects as free project files

  1. Click Project and Resource Administration (How).

    The Allplan Exchange dialog box Project and Resource Administration dialog box opens.

  2. Highlight the projects to be saved as free project files in the Project Name column in the project table.

    Use the typical Windows shortcuts (CTRL+click, UMSCHALT+click, CTRL+A).

  3. Click one of the selected projects with the mouse button. On the shortcut menu, click Save as project file (.apn).
  4. Specify the order in which the project files should be created and click OK.

    Note: Entering any name for each of the project files is not possible in this case. The project files automatically get the project name as their own name.

    The project files are stored in the selected folder.
