In accordance with the specifications defined by buildingSMART international, there are a number of essential mandatory planning rules to be observed when creating an IFC-compliant business model.
The basic rule is that only objects and elements modeled in 3D can be part of the IFC-compliant building model: Texts, line drawings, dimensions and so on are not therefore included. The same applies to 3D lines and surfaces, which are not planning objects in terms of IFC.
Consequently, if you want to add information to a component or object, you must include these pieces of information in the geometry of the component or object. As an alternative, you can also define an (additional) attribute and assign it to the component or object. This also applies to values and data you receive from other project participants, for example, the structural engineer.
In addition, the data structure within the model and thus within the whole project must be in compliance with IFC specifications. To achieve this, you must use a building structure in Allplan. In addition, you can only use specific structural levels within this building structure.
Check these rules time and again, doing so at regular intervals while you create and edit your models.
