IFC attribute assignment

The attribute assignments from the default exchange profiles are normally used when exporting and importing planning data in IFC format. User-defined attribute assignments make sense only if you want to make targeted changes to an assignment. You need to edit only the attribute assignments of which you want to change the assignments to ones that differ from the default exchange profile.

When you import an IFC file to Allplan, you assign an Allplan attribute to an IFC attribute (IFC property). When you export from Allplan to IFC, you assign an IFC attribute (IFC property) together with a property set to an Allplan attribute.

To create a customized attribute assignment for export or import

• The advanced IFC Export Settings or IFC Import Settings dialog box is open.
  

  1. Click Export IFC Data (How) or Import IFC Data (How).
     

     Activate Import IFC Data in one of the following ways

     • Actionbar:Role Draft Task Teamwork Task area Import

     • Menu bar: Create Interfaces

     • Palette: Tools Create area in the following modules:

     Interfaces

     • Title bar: Allplan icon Import
     

     Activate Export IFC Data in one of the following ways

     • Actionbar:Role Draft Task Teamwork Task area Export

     • Menu bar: File Export

     • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

     Interfaces

     • Title bar: Allplan icon Export

  2. Click Settings.

1. Open the corresponding dialog box to edit the attribute assignment in one of the following ways:
   • Go to the Attribute assignment area, click Find..., select the folder and file containing the attribute assignment and add this file to the selection. Then, double-click the attribute assignment.
   • Double-click an attribute assignment that has already been added to the selection.
   • Select an attribute assignment that has already been added to the selection and click Edit.
   • Click New..., define the folder and name for the new attribute assignment and click Save.
2. Create or edit your customized attribute assignment.

   Start in the General assignments and Specific assignments area on the left.

   Note: General attribute assignments apply to all property sets or objects. In addition, you can create specific assignments that are superordinate to the respective general assignments.

   • Click to delete an object and its attributes assigned from the Specific assignments area.
   • Click to add an object to the Specific assignments area. Click to select the object in the list box or enter the object name in the box.
   • When you select an object that can consist of several layers, such as a wall, click to add a layer below.

   Assign the attributes in the area on the right.

   • Click to delete an attribute assigned to the selected object, including all its settings.
   • Click to add a new attribute to the selected object. The line of the new attribute includes the default settings.
   • Change the attribute assignment in the columns to adjust it to the requirements of your project.
   • The and symbols indicate assignments that are incomplete, empty or not valid. You can find further information in the symbol’s ToolTip in the area on the right (Annotation column).

     Note: You cannot save the attribute assignment if it includes assignments that are empty or not valid.

3. Click OK to confirm the changes.

   The program saves the attribute assignment, selecting it for the next IFC import or export, which is indicated by .
