Layout Editor

You can use the Layout Editor to switch between editing documents and editing layouts.

To switch to layout edit mode

• When on the Actionbar, select the Layout Editor
  task or
  click Layout Editor (How).
  

  Activate Layout Editor in one of the following ways:

  • Menu bar: File

  • Title bar: Allplan icon

  • Shortcut menu: Hovering over the empty workspace Right mouse button

  In the second case, the icon remains pressed in until you close layout editor. Clicking Layout Editor again takes you back to document edit mode.

Tip: You can also switch to layout editor by right-clicking in the workspace and selecting Layout Editor on the shortcut menu.

Note: If model data has been changed in projects with views and sections without selecting the linked views and sections, and if the option Automatically update views and sections for selected Layout Editoris activated in the options for the views, the display will also be updated in such views and sections. When switching to the layout editor, you will be informed that you have set it for automatic updates but that this can be amended as part of the options. The message can be suppressed.
However, if the Do not update views and sections for selected Layout Editoroption is selected or if you have set the always ask option and ignored the updating of drawing file data then layout elements that contain views and sections in which the model data may not be shown correctly are shown with the background color that has been set in the options. You do not need to update the data if you only want to rearrange the layout elements or if you have accidentally selected the Layout Editor task area. You can manually update such layout elements using the update layout function. Note that Allplan always updates reinforcement data when you switch to layout editor. The same applies to drawing file data when you select the Print Layouts tool.

If you tick the check box preceding the text, you can select from a list box if you would like to suppress the message until the program exit, until the next update or permanently. Alternatively, move the cursor onto the text and then select the desired option in the list box. This automatically selects the check box.

Note: If you have permanently suppressed the message then it is shown again if you use the cleanreg hotline tool (Allmenu --> Service) to reset the registry settings.
