Introduction to quantity takeoff
Task area Rooms, Surfaces, Stories
Designers need quantitative building data even when constructing the building model. This information is used for different purposes in subsequent phases, ranging from quantity takeoff for invitation to tender to preparation of the schedule of rooms to cost calculation.
Quantity takeoff requirements
To analyze a building model, consider the following points when you design the building:
- Three-dimensional architectural components
These components return the mass for analyses. Additional information is provided by their properties - for example, material, building trade. - Assignment of materials and other attributes
You must define all materials and attributes you want to analyze when you enter components or later. - The definition of rooms
Rooms are also three-dimensional architectural elements that can be given a wide range of attributes and additional information.
Rooms serve as the basis for analyses of areas, coverings (finish specifications or special surfaces), and floor area. - Analyses in reports
You can use
Reports to run analyses based on a wide range of different criteria. Allplan comes with an extensive selection of reports; if these do not meet your requirements, you can also customize them to your needs or create your own ones.
You can use
Layout Designer to edit reports.
Note: For quantity takeoff in accordance with German building regulations, check that the openings are within the components.
