Import Revit Data

Task area Import

You can use tool to import data created with Revit to Allplan. You can optimize transfer by defining detailed configuration settings and assignment settings. Allplan supports all Revit versions up to 2020.

Tip: To import files, you can also drag them from File Explorer into Allplan. In this case, Allplan uses the current settings.

Tip: If you can get the data both in RVT format and in IFC format, we recommend that you prefer the IFC format for the time being. IFC is independent of a version and provides advanced settings.

Tip: If your work requires only the geometries of the components without any attributes, you can select the Import all components as user-defined archit. elements option in the Settings for Revit import.

To import a Revit file

  1. Click Import Revit Data (How).

The Settings for Revit Import dialog box pops up; the last settings made are preset.

  2. Enter the path and file name in the box or click Browse ... to select the path and file in a dialog box.
  3. Select the RVT format for the File type. Allplan supports all Revit versions up to 2020.
  4. Click Settings to adjust the Settings for Revit import.

The Settings for Revit Import dialog box is extended.

  5. Specify the first drawing file in the Select drawing file dialog box.

The program imports the data to consecutive drawing files.

Note: If the current project does not have a building structure, Allplan creates an appropriate building structure and automatically assigns the drawing files while importing the Revit model. You can also import the data into an existing building structure.

  6. Check the log file and click OK.

The log sorts elements that cannot be imported by object type, listing the elements with their internal IDs.

Tip: You can also import Revit files by dragging them from File Explorer into the workspace.
