Create and share folder for central file storage
Approval of a folder is the prerequisite to be able to use a computer within a workgroup as a data server for central file storage.
How to create the folder for central file storage and approve it
- You have administrator rights for the network in question
- Open Windows Explorer on the computer that is intended to be used for central file storage, then create the corresponding folder.
- Right-click the folder and select Properties on the shortcut menu.
- Select the Sharing tab and click Advanced Sharing here.
- Click Entitlements and, for the corresponding group or user names, grant the entitlement Full access.
- Click Apply before closing the Authorizations for "..." dialog box with OK.
- Confirm in the Advanced Sharing dialog box with Apply once again, then close the dialog box with OK.
The now approved folder is shown as a UNC path in the Properties dialog box under Network Path.
- Make a note of the UNC path.
Important! The UNC path must be stated in exactly this form when selecting the workgroup manager (see "Select Workgroup Manager").
