Using the Catalog menu and Configuration menu

General notes

Main menu:

Password:

If Allplan is installed in a workgroup environment, only administrators have write permission for the catalogs and configurations. This protects the data from unwanted alteration.

The icon with the key symbol looks like this:

Administrators can grant normal users write permission to a computer. Click the green key symbol and click OK to confirm the prompt asking whether you want to create a password. Type in the password. The password is not created when you click Cancel. This new password does not affect administrators.

A normal user who is logged into the corresponding computer and knows the password can now enter the password when clicking on the red lock symbol in the following prompt. Once they have done that, they can then change the entries in the catalogs and configurations.
If a password has not been created for normal users, the program will display an appropriate message when these users click the red key symbol.

Note that the password primarily protects the data from unwanted alteration. It does not provide sufficient protection against unauthorized access because the files can still be manipulated via the operating system.

Automatic synchronization of catalogs

Deleting entries or factories assigned on the Standard, Factory, Assignment and Panel type tabs of the catalogs produces unreferenced entries in the catalogs. These entries, which cannot be seen by the user, can cause problems running the program.
Therefore, the program automatically identifies and deletes all unreferenced entries when you close the catalog menu. The process is displayed accordingly.

The catalog records created are displayed in the left-hand window. Click to select the record you want to edit.

You can select the required tab in the right-hand window. The number and names of the tabs vary depending on the selected catalog.

Paste

Note: This icon is not offered with the steel grade catalog, the diameter catalog and the mesh catalog . Instead, these three catalogs feature two or three icons for moving the selected catalog entries or for sorting the catalog entries.
